In the estuary of the river "Rio Arade" stretches the large and fine sandy beach called PRAIA GRANDE, which is separated from the Atlantic by the pier.
The next beach past Praia Grande, near the pier is called PRAIA DO MOLHE.
Passing the pier in southerly direction we reach PRAIA DA PINTADINHO, now you are at the Atlantic. All these beaches have food and beverage establishments and are at about 1,5 kilometres from the town centre.
Going further down you'll find one of the most beautiful beaches - PRAIA DOS CANEIROS - about 2,5 kilometres from the town centre. Here, you can find the small rocky bays, which are typical for this coast line. Besides, the beach restaurant comes highly recommended.
Especially at dawn, you can experience unforgettable sunsets, while enjoying some of the Portuguese specialities, like clams or fresh fish from the Atlantic.
Also not to forget are the impressive rock formations, you can admire while walking along the cliffs. The best time of day to take these adventurous walks are bright and early in the morning.
